Men wait an average of 11 years between the onset of mental health symptoms and seeking treatment. Over a decade of carrying something while telling everyone the situation is under control. The scale of the silence 40% of men have never discussed their mental health with anyone — not a partner, not a friend, not a professional. It shows up directly in treatment data. NIMH figures put treatment at 41.6% of men with any mental illness, against 56.9% of women . CDC utilization data is wider: 13.4% of men versus 24.7% of women .
